ANDREA BOWERS: SPECTACULAR APPEARANCES Neighborhood Outreach Gallery at Santa Monica Place November 17, 1997–January 5, 1998
	The video component of Andrea Bowers's installation, Spectacular Appearances, part of the Artist Project Series, was on view as an alternative-site exhibition at Santa Monica Place. This extension of the Museum's exhibition program at the Neighborhood Outreach Gallery was a first-time usage of the mall's food court. Bowers said of this exhibition, "The work began as an investigation of the individual at a spectacle event, and is completed when a spectator at the mall becomes part of the piece." The Santa Monica Museum exhibited the full installation of Spectacular Appearances, with accompanying drawings, in Spring 1998.
